Musical arts?

or

Visual arts?

(I don't think these are real terms, but you know what I mean.)

Oh man. I personally enjoy the musical arts much more than the visual. However, in my life, moments of crazy extreme awe have come from enjoying the visual arts. It's frequency versus insensity. On the other hand, I could live more easily without visual arts than musical.

Damn. No vote yet. I've got to keep thinking.

Well, visual arts are more stimulating initially, but the brain quickly reaches the point of saturation where it's not as entertaining anymore.

Musical arts on the other hand continuously hold my interest, and i can create the visual that goes along with the music, which makes musical arts more versatile.

And versatility always wins.

Wow -- this one's heavy duty. Most vexing, Decider.

My stream of consciousness goes something like this:

wow hard i like music i like art and i do both sort of even studied art in college shouldn't this be easy well really "art" is so broad that the question ultimately boils down to preferring sight or sound if you think about it long enough hey there's a squirrel it boils down to do you like ray charles or lou ferigno better i wonder what helen keller would have to say about it gee i guess light can travel through space on its own and sound can't unless it's in radio waves maybe that's a point in favor of visual arts on the other hand music sort of lives on and you can perform it or cover it over and over like all along the watchtower or any song really whereas with visual art you're sort of stuck with reproductions which seem fundamentally different than their originals i don't know my head is starting to hurt what would mr. rogers say i'm not sure but beethoven was deaf and still music defined his life's work so let's say music.

Okay. I'm going to say...musical arts. Damn. No. Yes.

What's with all the hand-wringing? This one's EASY. Music. I have rarely, RARELY been brought to bliss by anything visual, but music is transformative.

Also, I'm not so sure I agree with the blindness versus deafness angle here. I make a clear distinction between the merely functional and pedestrian uses of visual and acoustical cues, versus the beauty, power and passion of their artistic manifestations. Sure, I would rather be deaf than blind from a FUNCTIONAL perspective, but when it comes to artistic enjoyment, I could easily give up a day at the art museum, a trip to the movies, or television. I could never ever stand to give up Beethoven, the Beatles, and Big Boi.

What are flex points?

Russell's randomness. They aren't anything.

I'm glad that you and I agree on this one, WAL. It was bound to happen sometime. Incidentally, you might eventually try some stuff from the other bins in the record store. I know the Beach Boys are boss, but there are a lot of decent vibrations in the other 25 letters too.

Whoa, watch those pythons, Rolo! Seriously though, good call on the flex points. Unfortunately, there's also a technical deduction for each instance of a needlessly repeated letter. Maybe the extra emphasis from all that uppercase action and exclamation pointing will make up for it. What? Oh. The judges are telling me no.

Carl, thanks for raising up persons with disabilities, dude. Helen Keller...Beethoven. Alright. Fascinating, Wal! Your functional versus aesthetic argument...While the ADA defines disability in terms of "functional limitation," I see where you're coming from on this one. And, I must say, I tend to agree. Gotta go with musical arts.

Musical Arts all the way!

The musical arts have made me cry, lol, smile, sing without care, meet great folks and remind me of great times in my life.

The visual arts...make me light headed from standing too long. Why aren't there more benches in art museums?

I'm voting for musical arts.

I think the reason is obvious.
